Good morning!
Today, typing a bit
more sleepy than usual, I write to you with a big cup of coffee. I
must say that I’m trying to cut a bit on black coffee but... I’m
too addicted to it. Maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but I really
feel that it helps me wake up in the mornings. This magic breaks in
the night when I can finish dinner and take a espresso shot and still
sleep like a baby. That’s weird...
We’ll leave the
coffee mistery for another day because now it’s time for today’s
topic: Make-up routine for ballet class.
So, I’m one of
those weird ones that never put make-up to go to ballet class until
this year. I mean, of course I wore make-up for exams and obviusly
performances, but on the daily basis I thought it was a waste of time
and that it really made me break out and get pimples and redness from
the products.
I’m not going to
say that this doesn’t happen at all, of course it does, but it’s
not even half as bad as I thought it would be. I’ve actually
noticed that what affects my skin the most is food but that’s
another subject that I might treat in the future.
Going into the
actual make-up story, I always try to go as natural as I can so I can
still let my skin breathe a bit. I try to avoid to cover in liquid
foundation my face if it’s not too bad meaning that if concealer
can cover up the small break outs and some powder can smooth it out,
that’s done for me.
Into products. I
used to be a Benefit girl a long time ago, but then I saw the price
range of Benefit going into heights that a student can’t usually
reach and I decided to lower down my expectations and go for
drugstore make-up. It works very well for a daily basis and I prefer
to spend the money on performance make-up because it’s very dense
and having good quality make-up ensures less damadge on the skin. I
have different brands and I’m still searching for my favourite
products but I’ll list you down below what I’ve been using
lately:
- NYX Pore Filler
(POF01)
It’s not the best
pore filler as I feel the texture is not the best but it makes the
job quite decently. Of course, coming from the amazing Porefessional
from Benefit, well, it all might seem very bad, but all in all i
would rate it in a 6/10.
- Concealer
Mattifying Perfection from P2 (Color 15)
It’s a vegan
brand, very affordable, perfect color match, good coverage and very
nice texture. All in all this is a solid 9/10! And I must thank my
old friend Maria Isabel for recomending me this product that I now
love.
- Foundation Dream
Satiné Fluid from Maybelline (Color 40 Fawn with an SPF 13)
Maybelline is not a
bad drugstore brand at all and you can find such good deals and a
decent quality. This is a very good match but I must say that I think
the famous Fit Me line might be a bit better in terms of being matte.
I have a bit of an obsession on having very matte finish on my
make-up and this foundation gives a bit of a shimmer, but nothing
that a good setting powder can’t finish. I rate it on a 7,5/10.
- Setting powder All
Matt Plus from Catrice Cosmetics (Color 025 Sand Beige)
This was another
good find as not being one of the best setting powders (actually the
«baking» powder from this same brand is delightfully good compared
to this one) it still works. It’s a good match in color but I feel
like I must use quite a lot of product to get the finished look. If I
don’t use foundation this is a good option as a very light
foundation as it has a very nice color. I would rate it on a 7/10
- Blush Hervana from
Benefit
I’ve had this
blush for ages (and yes, it might be expired but let’s be real, who
acually throws into the trash expired make-up if you can still use
it? Please, don’t kill me dermathologist) and I couldn’t love it
more. It’s great that you get to mix different shades to get this
beautiful pink classic blush with the tiniest bit of shimmer. Very
natural, great application and a fantastic match for any look almost.
10/10, obviusly.
- Highlighter High
Beam from Benefit
I don’t use
highlighter everyday but if I feel like it I might brush a tiny bit
of this goodness to make me feel a bit more bright. This is another
product that I bought a long time ago but I still have a lot of it
and I’m trying to save it like gold because it’s an amazing
creamy highlighter and, ah! Benefit it’s just too good! Another
10/10
- Mascara The
Colossal Go Extreme! From Maybelline
I started using this
one recently and it has done a wonderful on me! I’ve been blessed
with long and curved lashes like my mother but I always wanted more
full lashes and this mascara gets it done very naturally. It also has
a nice soft brush that doesn’t make any clumps and distributes
evently the product without wasting it. A solid 9/10 to Maybelline.
- Lipstick Nyx Soft
Matte Lip Cream (Color SMLC 19 – Cannes)
Very nice color,
long lasting and a very easy application. It also dries fast and
leaves a very matte result as it claims. I sometimes use some lipbalm
to make it a bit more natural if I feel like it, but the product
itself is very good for a neat matte lip. A good 9/10!
And this is my final
result on my natural everyday make-up to go to class!
Sometimes I don’t
wear make-up if I haven’t had enough time to make it and hey,
nothing happens! Make-up is not mandatory for anyone, not even a
dancer. The beauty comes from inside (as Disney like as it sounds,
it’s the truth!) and make-up it’s, at least for me, a way of
empowerment when I’m feeling a bit more down or a way to have fun!
I’m willing to
hear your opinions on this topic as it can cause quite a lot of
controversy a person that puts make-up everyday or a person who
decides not to. Leave me down below your opinion! Team make-up or all
naturell for class?
I hope you enjoy
this little review like post and I’ll see you tomorrow with a very
nice experience I’m living this season!
Love,
Muriel
