Good
evening!
Today I
write to you a quick post before one of the events of the year
begins: Eurovison!
The
Eurovison Song Contest meant to search for new songs from all the
countries that are part of the European Union of Radio Transmission
(E.U.R). This is not the same as the European Union as, for example,
Israel, Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan are also participants in this
competition among other countries that are part of the EUR. Since
2015 Australia has also been part of this competition as they came as
guests performers for the 60th Anniversary celebration of Eurovision
and the public had an awesome response to their music so they decided
to keep them in.
This year's Spain candidates Amaia and Alfred with "Tu canción"
Every
year each country presents an artist or a group with a new song that
must be completely original and made expressly for the competition.
They mustn't speak of religion, politics or involve any kind of
violence in its lyrics. They can’t compete with kids or animals on
stage and the maximum amount of people allowed on stage is six
counting the singer, dancers and so on. The musical instruments must
be recorded but the singing must be fully live and playback is
banned. They also need to present a video clip for the selection and
you can check everyone of them in the Eurovision YouTube channel if
you’re a real Eurofan.
This year's favourite: Cyrpus with "Fuego" by Eleni Foureira
Now we
get into the actual competition. There are five countries called the
Big Five that are already in the finals and don’t need to go
through the semifinal selection because they are the five countries
that give the most economic support to this competition. These are
France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and Spain. Also, the country
were it’s held the competition each year (which is a different one
almost every year as it’s held in the country which won the past
edition) is also in the finals without the semifinal selection.
There
are held two semifinals in the week of the competition and in the end
only 27 countries will be able to go to the finals (they are actually
just 21 that have been through the whole selection process). And here
it’s when I say why I’m talking about Eurovision.
This
has been one of the events of the years in my family since I can
remember. We always watched the competition live and we made a
wonderful snack dinner and we even had our own boards to vote on and
make our own winners and favorites.
Because
this year is the third one that I am watching it in the distance I
thought that it would be fun if I showed you which were my snacks and
preparations and I may be active during the night in my Instagram
account to tell you my reactions and share it with anyone who might
be interested.
If you
want to catch a glimpse or even follow the competition you can search
for your country’s TV official broadcaster or just watch the direct
video in Eurovision’s official YouTube channel. (I’ll leave the
link down below). It super fun and you can discover great artists
like last year’s Salvador Sobral from Portugal (I’ll also link
it’s song which I think it’s beautiful).
Last year's winner Salvador Sobral with "Amar pelos dois"
Now
onto my snack dinner!
As some
sides I’ll have this supper yummy Veggie Chips that I just love.
They’re from the brand Go Pure and this is the bag that contains
sweet potato, carrot, beetroot and parsnip. Just delicious.
I also
have some hummus with carrot sticks and sesame crackers.
And of
course, some olives. I’m not a person without them!
As my
main I’ll have a classic green salad with cucumber and tomato
topped with goji berries and pecans.
And a
classic toasted whole grain bread with tomato and some olive oil.
This is a typical Catalan preparation called «pa amb tomĆ quet» and
you can asked any of my friends who has tried it, so simple yet so
delicious!
I know
it’s a bit of a big dinner, but it’s a very special day as well
and I tried to make healthy choices to still enjoy the night taking
care of my body.
I hope
you liked it and tell me which snacks do you usually take when it’s
one of this festival kind of nights down below.
I hope
you have a beautiful evening and I’ll see you probably on Tuesday
with a double post!
Love,
Muriel
