Hello
there again!
So
today (in the actual post of today and not a deleyed one) I’m bringing you a post about something that a lot of people
enjoy: shopping!
Yes, I
know, it seems like I’m contradicting myself because in the 50
things about me Tag post I said I wanted to get more into the
minimalist lifestyle and shopping and minimalism are not really
synonyms but let me explain.

During
a decluttering session back in Mannheim I found several pieces of my
wardrobe that I just didn’t enjoy anymore and I decided to select
them and give them away to people in need but that meant that I had,
for example, no shorts for this summer.
One of
my late birthday presents was a gift card from my parents that had
money that I could spend in whatever I wanted and I decided to invest
some of it in new clothes so I could declutter as well my Barcelona’s
closet that has some of the items I use the less.
And
here I am to tell you what shops did I visited, how was the
experience of shopping and sizes and a small haul in the end to show
you what I got!
To
begin with, during the morning my lovely dad brought me to a store I
wanted to visit for a very long time called In Love with BCN. (
C/Santaló, 83)
I’ve
followed this store Instagram’s account for a couple of years now
and I always loved the items they had and going there was the perfect
opportunity to see them in person and check quality and so on.
The
store is really nice and it has very nice clothing as well for a very
reasonable price. The only problem is that they have a lot of the
items of One Size fits all and they tend to go on the bigger side,
which is the common size usually. But for small girls like me it’s
a bit of a struggle to find a good size and I’m not even the one
struggling the most!
The
thing is that I have little to no breasts and they are very splitted
apart which makes fitting some tops a bit challenging as well as
swimwear because there’s nothing to fill it up with. Also, I have
wide hips but not too much waist so high waisted jeans might be
fitting right on my hips and bottom but a bit lose on the waist.
Every
person can relate to any of these situations and I find myself being
one of the lucky girls that can still find a lot of items in common
stores but sometimes it can get a bit frustrating when you really
like an item but you must think if it’s worth it to actually buy it
because you know you’ll have to invest more in fixing it.
Anyway,
I didn’t stop my search and in the afternoon, after ballet class, I
went with my mum to several stores. My main focus was to find some
shorts and a piece of swimwear as I had a couple of bikinis I wanted
to get rid of.
We
started by going to Subdued, an Italian brand that opened several
stores in Spain not so long ago. I love the style, it’s simillar to
Brandy Melville and Double Agent and it used to be quite affordable.
I say they used to because I saw some items today that I was
impressed with the price they had.

Small
pause. I want to explain that I know that a good clothing item must
be expensive. And by expensive I mean that the price must show the
quality of the product, its endurance and its design. It must be
realistic. Now, when you think of Brandy Melville or Double Agent you
know what I mean. They are not bad quality clothes but you wouldn’t
pay for a pair of shorts from this brands 40 or 50 euros. I would
prefer to pay a bit more for a good Levi’s short that I know it’s
going to last me more than two summers.
With
that said, although they had really nice items, the price tag got me
a bit off because of the reason I just explained. Was it actually
worth it to invest in that or was it better to keep searching for
something more convincing?

Three of the items I tried and I liked the most
So I
moved into Brandy and although I had the same fitting problem as in
the other two stores I found two pieces that I love.
One of
them is a dark green cap sleeve top and the other one is a stripped
pant in dark green, mustard and black.

The two items I got in Brandy Melville
I
really like them for several reasons: they are comfortable, they’re
a color I don’t own at all, they’re versatile which allows me to
get rid of other old t-shirts or summer pants that are oo big or
uncomfortable and you can combine them in a thousand different ways.
I’ll leave the links down below for this and all the other items I
got, in case you’re interested on checking them out on the website.
I then
headed to Oysho as I know I can always find a nice bikini or swimsuit
there. And I did!
They
had beautiful swimsuits as well but unfortunately they fitted me too
big. I then found a bikini in a mustard color (one I’ve never been
really fond of) and I decided to give it try as it’s a color
that’s trending more or less this summer season.

I’ve
never liked more a bikini! It adapts perfectly, has a lovely pattern
and a vibrant color that I know it will be even more nice when I get
more tanned and it’s completely adaptable both the top and the
bottom which is fantastic. It has some crochet in it which makes it a
bit delicate but I didn’t really cared because I always hand wash
my swimwear and leotards.

Finally,
and because we were quite close to it (and my dad told me at least
five times this morning) we went to Uniqlo.

Uniqlo
is a Japanese clothing brand that has very simple yet good quality
and versatile clothing items for an affordable price. My dad is in
love with it because he bought himself a couple of pants and he
hasn’t been able to go through a day without them so he really
encouraged me to go and try to find there the shorts I was looking
for.
He was
right. It was the only place where I found shorts that fitted
perfectly on the first try. It was very hard to decide but I finally
decided to get to denim shorts (in black and white) and another one a
bit more lose and relaxed in a linen kind of fabric in a yellow-ish
color.
And
that’s it! Mission accomplished! Got the shorts, the swimsuit and
even an additional pant and top to clean my closet and just have
items that I really enjoy and I feel comfortable in!
I
didn’t show them on me because I’m preparing a post where I’ll
show some outfit combination with these and other items of my closet
soon, so stay tuned to watch it!
I hope
you enjoyed it and if you want, leave me a comment down below telling
me which clothing item is your favorite one from the ones I got. I’ll
see you tomorrow!
Love,
Muriel
