Hello
there!
So this past two days I didn’t post because I’m packing up all of my stuff
because I’m moving back to Spain at the end of next week. I’ll
write a post about this decision soon but for now let me start
today’s topic.
Today I
wanted to travel a bit back in time to when I was on holiday in
Barcelona and I did a couple of ballet shootings. Today I wanted to
talk about the experience of my second shooting with a professional
photographer based in Barcelona: MW Photography. (I’ll link her
website down below)
Mariona,
the founder of MW Photography, and I had a couple of shootings some
years back. I actually had my first shooting with her thanks to a
contest that my dad won on her website as a surprise Christmas
present for me.
We did
an outdoor shooting on January 2015 and wow, it was freezing but it
was so much fun! It was my very first time in a professional outdoor
shooting and she made my experience beyond wonderful.
I
repeated with her on the same summer where I did a summer photo shoot
near the beach and it was also really, really nice but this third
time I actually asked her to do a bit of a special session.
A lot
of time had passed since I did a shooting and I decided to have some
fun during the holiday doing some shoots and I asked her to do a bit
of a crazy idea: a shoot that showed several places of Barcelona as a
good memory of it. The best was when she said yes and showed me the
awesome crazy plan for one morning. Four emblematic locations in one
morning. And each location is quite far from each other. But I just
loved the idea and was down for some fun!
So I
woke up early in the morning to have a light breakfast and do a light
stretch as well to meet her at 8:00 in the morning to start the
shooting in the Búnkers del Carmel were the view of the city is
breathtaking. And when we got there it was even better.
She
guided me before hand with the colors of the outfits for each
location and I decided to start with a white leotard and a pale pink
skirt with a french roll. Classic and delicate but it matched well
the colors and the sky was so clear that the white leotard was
popping out in every picture. She also guided me through some poses
but she also allowed me to try some things. The lighting was
beautiful and almost no one was there which was perfect to have the
time to try the poses several times and get the best shot.
We then
moved to our second location: Plaça Sant Felip Neri. This square is
a bit of a hidden place in the heart of Barcelona and it’s also one
of the prettiest ones. There’s an emblematic church in it that has
the outside walls full of bullet marks and explosions. They’re from
the time of the Civil War in Spain back in 1936-39 and this church
was one of the ones that stayed up during war and the city decided to
keep the marks as a memorial place. Although it may sound sad, it’s
actually became one of the most peaceful places when there’s not a
lot of tourist in it. The small fountain on the center, the high
trees letting the sunshine come slightly and the stone ground makes
the whole square embrace you like a warm hug. It’s like a place of
heaven fell down to earth.
Anyway,
we got there and we were the luckiest because there was no one in
there as well for fifteen minutes which was enough to catch some
beautiful shots in a black tutu and leotard. Classic swan like outfit
to make the most classical and delicate side of myself that I
believed it matched the atmosphere as well.
Third
location: el Mercat del Born. El Born is one of the most alternative
and cultural neighborhoods from the city. The remodeled market has
become one of the best locations to shoot in for almost everyone:
fashion bloggers, art photographers, architects, small brands that
want to make their website basically look on fleek... you get what I
mean.
I went
for the more neo-classical kind of outfit wearing black tights and my
light green Yumiko and loose hair with a half up – half down hair
style. We did some normal shots and afterwards she asked me if we
could try something different. I needed to improvise while she was
taking pictures with the addition of the effect of a prism. They
turned out very very cool and it was something new to me that I would
love to try again and keep working on to search for new and different
shoots.
Last
location: right at the beach. This was the location I’m more
connected to. I don’t know how many times I’ve said that the sea
gives my life every time I step into it. Being born in a city on the
sea I guess makes me kind of dependent of it and I feel a new person
every time I come back. We did some more powerful shoots with a more
street like outfit: black high waisted shorts and an open back top
with the same half up – half down hairstyle from earlier.
The day
was literally the best to shoot in and the pictures came out
beautiful. In this last location the sea was shining and the jumping
shoots I think they turned out fantastic.
Overall,
the experience was perfect. She was very close and friendly which I
think it’s one of the most important things when shootings. She
also helped me a lot to get the good pose and she’s also very
spontaneous which I think leaves a great space for creativity and
also allows her to get the best moment every single time. She’s a
true artist and if you’re ever in Barcelona and you would like to
have a nice shooting done I would, without a doubt, recommend you
contact her asap.
I hope
you enjoyed this post and I’ll soon bring you how was the other
shooting I did if you want to!
Have a lovely Sunday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Love,
